Description
Deutsch: Erotenreliefs, 2./3. Jh. Kalksandstein, gefunden Wien 3/10, Arsenal, 1890. Dauerleihgabe Kunsthistorisches Museum. Die zwei Reliefs stammen von einer großen Inschrifttafel, die von zwei fliegenden Eros-Figuren getragen wird. Wahrscheinlich war die Tafel ursprünglich an einem großen öffentlichen Bauwerk, vielleicht einem Theater, angebracht. In der Spätantike brach man die Inschrift in mehrere Teile und baute daraus ein Steinkistengrab.
English: Relief with cupids, 2nd/3rd century A.D. Lime sandstone. The two reliefs are from a large inscription tablet that was carried by two flying cupids. It was unlikely to have been originally attached to a public building, possibly a theatre. In late antiquity, the inscription was broken into several pieces and used to build a stone cist grave.
