A personagem representada é José Jorge Loureiro (figura masculina adulta, representada ao centro, a meio corpo, quase de perfil, a três quartos para a direita, visualizando-se a mão esquerda ligeiramente levantada. Tem o rosto glabro, o cabelo escuro, curto, ondulado, quase revolto, puxado para a frente, recortando a orelha, e patilha (suíça) curta. Veste farda militar com galões e divisas dourados). Assinado e datado no canto superior esquerdo: "V. Salgado, 1920".
