en 1550 el alcalde mayos Gaspar suarez dona estos terrenos para construir el primer hospital de Merida, que se termino en 1562. La orden Hospitalaria de San Juan de Dios se hizo cargo del sanatorio en 1625 convirtiendo el sitio en su convento. |
