This torpedo designed by Mr. W. W. Wood of the United States Navy, and Mr. G. Beardslee, of New York, inventor of the magneto-electric telegraph.
Witnesses: Duke of Somerset, First Lord of the Admiralty; Vice-Admiral Sir Charles Talbot, commanding the squadron at the Nore. The official party were accompanied on the Admiralty yacht Wildfire by Mr. Donald McKay, the shipowner of Boston, the agent for the Americans.. Read the ILN
