| Description |
English: As seen in March 2021. The Exposition Center is the newest building at the New York State Fairgrounds, unveiled in 2018 with a design by K/O Architects of Des Moines, Iowa that includes abundant natural lighting, 4,000 retractable seats, and a vast expanse of clear-span, column-free space: at 110,000 square feet in area, it's the largest indoor event venue in Upstate New York. For the 2018 fair, that space was largely occupied by an ice rink that played host to figure skating and friendly hockey and broomball matches, as well as the fair's iconic annual sand sculpture which in subsequent years has been moved back to its original location in the Center of Progress building. When the fair is not in session, the Exposition Center does double duty as a regional convention center: in its short period of existence it has hosted events as diverse as car shows, equestrian events, comic conventions, motocross competitions, and the TasteNY Fall Festival. |
