Description
Nederlands: De Ezelpoort dateert grotendeels van 1615 en later. Een vroegere stadspoort met dezelfde benaming situeerde zich aan de Grauwwerkersstraat. Sedert 1300 treffen we de Ezelpoort op haar huidige plaats. Rechts ziet u de Gulden-Vlieslaan, de toren van de Sint-Jakobskerk in de verte en een telegraafpaal van de spoorweg. Door de poort heen is de Ezelstraat te zien. In het huis met de poort was Blekerij Decloedt gevestigd. De huizen in de Ezelstraat werden gesloopt voor de aanleg van de Gulden-Vlieslaan en de Komvest op het einde van de 19de eeuw. Een deel van de vroegere Komvest is nu Koningin Elisabethlaan. Onder de Ezelpoort door liep een tramlijn naar de gasfabriek Desclée. We zien een gevelgaslantaarn aan één van de poortgevels.
