Summary[edit]

Description

English: „Falkensteiner Höhle“, a more than 5 km long cave with a stream inside, northeast of the town Bad Urach, Swabian Alb. Under „normal“ condition the stream sinks through a ponor, which is 20 m inside the cave. Here it drops down into a lower karst level, resurging in the valley bottom. Only during exceptionally high floods or after snowmelt some stream water leaves through the portal, running down to the left of the path. There are several sumps in the cave, which could only be explored and passed through by speleological experts. The cave’s stream is the karst spring of the local “Elsach”, which joins the “Erms” at Bad Urach.
