Description
English: Betting positions for Fan-Tan (counting game/gambling). In general, bets are placed in a defined region, and the remainder of counters, divided by four, determines which wagers win and what the payout is:
  • If the region has a single number label, the payout is 3:1 when the remainder of counters matches that label
  • If the region has multiple number labels ...
    • ... and the numbers are equally sized, the payout is 2:1 for either number
    • ... and the numbers are not equally sized, the payout for the larger number is 2:1, and the payout for the smaller number(s) is 1:1

Specifically:

  1. In the center, the number pairs "1-3" and "2-4" refer to betting on an odd or even number of tokens, payout 2:1.
  2. In the first surrounding ring, the individual numbers "1" "2" "3" and "4" refer to betting on a single position, payout 3:1.
  3. In the next surrounding ring, the equally-sized number pairs "1-2" "2-3" "3-4" and "1-4" refer to "corner" betting, i.e., that either of the two numbers will occur, payout 2:1.
  4. In that same surrounding ring, the unequally-sized number pairs "12" "13" "14", "21" "24" "23", "32" "31" "31", "41" "42" "43" refer to "twist" betting: either the larger number will win (payout 2:1) or the smaller number will win (payout 1:1).
  5. In the outermost ring, the unequally-sized number triads "214" "123" "234" "143" refer to "row" betting where the larger number wins (payout 2:1) or either of the smaller numbers will win (payout 1:1).
