Summary[edit]
DescriptionFarrar Forster grave 008.jpg |
Top of pedestal after cross was removed, on grave of Charles Farrar Forster (1848–1894), at Harlow Hill cemetery, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. The inscription says: "In memory of Charles Farrar Forster, priest. First vicar of the adjoining parish of Beckwithshaw 1887 to 1894. Passed to rest on the 28th day of August 1894 aged 46. "My presence shall go with thee and I will give thee rest." (Exodus 33:14) This cross was erected by the members of his congregation." The cross has been dismantled and laid down by the Council (as with many graves in the cemetery) for safety reasons. The cross and its pedestal (and possibly the grave border) are made of black marble with strong white figuring. Large white markings on the original black marble can be seen (especially in wet conditions) under the cement where the cross has been detached from the pedestal. The position of the grave is Section A, grave 28: to left of entrance path, seventh row parallel with street, first grave (next to tree). |
