Summary[edit]

Description

Gilded silver figurine of the god Amun-Ra, created in Egypt about 1069 to 715 BC. Found near Karnak, Thebes.

Amun was the god of creation, and the patron god of Thebes. As the Thebans conquered the rest of Egypt, most notably the Hyksos, Amun became associated with Ra, the god of the sun, who was the chief deity elsewhere in Egypt.

As the merged Amun-Ra, the god was King of the Gods and creator of all other gods. The figure of Amun is crowned with the double-crown adorned with the disc of the Sun.
