Summary[edit]

Description

English: Veronica flowers also known as the Eyes of the Madonna “

In the language of flowers, the flower Veronica means goodbye, and it was once used to give it to a friend about to leave, with the hope that the divine eyes would watch over and always follow their loved one. Legend has it: ❝The Madonna, went down with the Child Jesus to Malcantone, to enjoy our spring, she strolled while the child ran happily among the grass and flowers. After a while Jesus was thirsty, but there were no springs around. He was about to go back to heaven, but then he noticed a small white flower hidden in the grass, with a drop of dew on it that sprang like a diamond light, and with this quenched Jesus who started playing again.

The flower, however, had folded back on itself, and so the Madonna put it back on, and miraculously reattached itself to the stem, and the corolla stood up and became blue like the iris of the Madonna. And all the flowers of that species dyed the white delicate blue petals. Since then the Veronica are called "Eyes from the Madonna".
