Firewalking in Kandy, Sri Lanka

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Firewalking, the act of walking barefoot over a bed of hot embers or stones, is being practiced by many cultures across the world. Modern physics says that it has ‘demystified’ the phenomenon, suggesting that a combination of poor conduction of heat and the amount of time the sole is in contact with the stones could immunize the people against burns and make them fireproof. However, those who do not believe the theory assert that there remains a realm of magic and mystery about the whole performance.
