Summary[edit]

Description
English: Built in 1907, this Classical Revival-style building was designed by Charles C. Wilson and built by the Mallard Construction Company for the First Baptist Church congregation of Newberry, South Carolina. The building features a painted brick exterior, a front-gable roof, doric pilasters, a front portico with fluted doric columns, a cornice with modillions, an architrave with triglyphs, roman arched bays with stained glass windows, a front door with a decorative trim surround and pediment, double-hung basement windows with roman lattice motif mullions, and additions to the south and west that house classrooms, offices, and other spaces for the church congregation. The building is a contributing structure in the Caldwell Street Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. The building today remains in use by the First Baptist Church of Newberry.
