In this photograph taken by Louis Lee in 1943, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt christens the escort aircraft carrier USS Alazon Bay at the Kaiser Shipyards, where it had been built under a Maritime Commission contract sponsored by the first lady. The USS Alazon Bay was later renamed the USS Casablanca, and operated in the South Pacific until the end of the war.
