English: The Union Meeting House, previously the First Presbyterian Church of Black Rock, 44 Breckenridge Street, Buffalo, New York, January 2020. The oldest extant church building in Buffalo (albeit much changed from its original appearance) and one of the rare surviving examples of Federal architecture in the city, the building dates to 1827 and spent its first few years of existence passing between the hands of several congregations of various denominations before being purchased by the First Presbyterian Church of Black Rock in 1831. The congregation's name was changed in 1871 to the Breckenridge Street Presbyterian Church to reflect the village of Black Rock's annexation by Buffalo eighteen years prior and to avoid confusion with the similarly-named church in downtown Buffalo. After the congregation moved in 1891 to a new building at the corner of West Ferry Street and West Avenue, the building served various purposes, including as home to Grace Episcopal Church, as an Odd Fellows' Hall, as a detention center for illegal aliens attempting to cross the border from Canada (hence the barred windows on the second story), as an orphanage, and as a warehouse for plumbing supply company Stritt & Priebe. The building is now vacant and owned by Rich Products Corporation.
