Edward Lyddell 'Lyd' Sawyer (1853-1927), English portrait, genre and topographical photographer. Member of the Photographic Society of Great Britain (1882) and the Linked Ring Brotherhood (1895) - www.luminous-lint.com/app/photographer/Lyddell__Sawyer/AB...

"The reproductions of Mr. Sawyer's pictures ... show clearly enough that for him there is poetry to be found in scenes of daily toil and care. Boys in boyish occupations, real enough to them while they last - men and women in their work of life, in their passage down the stream of time - young folk culling the flowers of a love-strewn path, each and all contribute their portion to the tale which goes to make up the history of mankind - and so they appeal to Mr. Sawyer as phases of life which bear upon them the stamp of humanity. The same humanity which by an invisible bond links every mortal with every other mortal, and makes us to-day a part of and concerned in the history of all time." - Rev. F. C. Lambert, 'Sun Artists' (No. 4), 1890.
