Summary

[edit]
Description

In the southwest corner of the Umayyad Mosque is the Minaret al-Gharbiye, also known as the Minaret Qait Bey after the Mamluk Sultan who built it in 1488. It is particularly graceful and shows the strong Egyptian influence typical of the Mamluk period.

There appears to be some maintenance happening at the top.
