Summary[edit]

Description
English: During World War II, the 'Reserve Battalion Holmestrand' (Norwegian: Reservebataljon Holmestrand) , a part of the Norwegian Legion, paraded for Vidkun Quisling, the leader of the Norwegian Nazi party Nasjonal Samling (NS) and minister-president appointed by German occupation authorities, before the Royal Palace in Oslo, Norway. The individuals in front of the troops included Karl Leib, leader of the Germanische Leitstelle in Norway; Jonas Lie, the police minister and head of the Germanic SS Norway; Arthur Qvist, an Olympic rider, officer, NS member, and front-line fighter; and an unidentified battalion leader. The parade, as reported in a confidential news overview from June 14, 1942, involved the Reserve Battalion Holmestrand mustering on Slottsplassen square alongside units of Quisling's guard, the national defense force, and the emergency police. Quisling inspected the units, accompanied by Jonas Lie, before delivering a brief speech. Terje Emberland, in his book "Himmler's Norway," notes that the Holmestrand camp served as an SS facility, akin to Kongsvinger Fortress, preparing Norwegians for a future SS-controlled Norway. At various times, it trained members of the Hird, the Norwegian Legion's reserve battalion, and the Guard Battalion.

Avdelingene tok oppstilling i åpen firkant. "Föreren" ankom i bil presis kl. 09.30.
