| Description |
English: Footbridge on Footpath 785 In woods between Durbans Road to Northup Copse. This bridge spans a gap in an earth causeway which crosses the old riverbed which is about 30m wide. Once the path crosses from east to west it comes down from the causeway and into the riverbed until climbing out about 15m to the south. The causeway continues about 20m west of the bridge but ends in a huge ditch. I wonder why this second ditch was dug (or was there another bridge?) and the path diverted - I assume that when the importance of the footpath was diminished by the building of nearby roads so no-one cared if the footpath got flooded out occasionally. |
