Para se conhecer o forte é necessário caminha pela trilha que tem início próximo a entrada da praia do Sueste. A trilha de baixa nível de intensidade tem cerca de 700 metros. O lugar possuí as ruínas da fortificação e alguns canhões da época. De lá também é possível se ter uma visão geral de toda a faixa de areia da Baía do Sueste, assim como, do Morro do Atalaia, Ilha dos Ovos, Ilha Chapéu do Sueste e Ilha Cabeluda.
