Description
Nederlands: Fragment van Jupiterpijler van Derlon in Maastricht. Romeins beeldhouwwerk uit ca 150-175 na Chr. Hier: kolomfragment met Bacchus. Gevonden in 1910 bij de noordelijke kloostergang van de OLV-basiliek. In 1983 werden in de buurt diverse andere fragmenten gevonden, afkomstig van dezelfde Jupiterpijler (opgraving Derlon). Foto uit 1915 van G. de Hoog, gemaakt in het Historisch Museum van het LGOG in de Lenculenstraat. Het object maakt nog steeds deel uit van de LGOG-collectie, jarenlang gehuisvest in het Bonnefantenmuseum, thans in het depot van de gemeente Maastricht, incidenteel te zien in Centre Céramique.
