An aerial view looking north of Franklin County Stadium. The stadium was the home of the Columbus Clippers, a Class AAA minor league baseball team in the International League. They were the affiliate of the New York Yankees from 1979 to 2006. The stadium was built in 1931 and christened Red Bird Stadium the following year. It was renamed Jet Stadium in 1955. When minor league baseball returned to Columbus in 1977, it was renamed Franklin County Stadium. In 1984, it was renamed Cooper Stadium in honor of Harold Cooper, who was responsible for bringing the Jets to Columbus in the 1950s. The stadium closed after the 2008 baseball season.
