Fred Griffith and "Bobby" - This photograph is one of the few remaining of the English microbiologist who was killed in the Blitz in London in 1941. Although Griffith and Avery never met, the two scientists greatly respected each other's work on pneumococci transformation. Inscription on reverse reads "Snap-shot of Dr. Fred.
