Summary[edit]

Description
English: Frick Engine and Boiler, Georgia Museum of Agriculture

This portable boiler was one of the last ones known to have been made by the Frick Company of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, in 1935. The boiler and piggyback engine came from the Ruth Miller Family of Smithville, Georgia, and began
operation at the Museum in 1977. After 32 years powering the cotton gin at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture (GMA), this riveted boiler and engine halted to a stop on January 12, 2009. Along with all riveted boilers at the museum
that were 75-100 years old, this boiler was deemed unsafe due to potentially loose rivets after 75 years of faithful service.
In 2015, fundraising efforts resulted in a full restoration of the museum's cotton gin and included a new, single-sheet boiler and 90 horsepower Frick engine.
In 2020, the time came for the cotton gin's original Frick boiler and engine to shine again. Keith Rucker, Abraham Baldwin Agriculture Alum and friend of the GMA, spearheaded efforts for the cosmetic restoration of both the boiler

and engine.
