| Description |
English: I'd shot this bridge before of course ( www.flickr.com/photos/nakrnsm/3368282427/ ), a few times, on the old Galveston, Houston and Henderson Railroad line, abandoned for years by the Missouri, Kansas & Texas Railroad, the county jail at one end and the old Gable Street power plant at the other, stripped of its rails and clad in rust and vines and rotting timbers, guarded by a fence and "No Trespassing" signs at each end.
So, last Saturday, it was a big difference seeing it being converted to a hike and bike trail, with handrails and concrete deck and fresh green paint. Crossing the bridge for the first time, I had mixed feelings about the conversion, but the bridge is preserved now, a rare thing for an historic Houston structure. |
