Summary[edit]

Description

VNB132L - New in November 1972 as 7032 in the SELNEC fleet, this Park Royal-bodied Atlantean spent its entire working life based at Stockport. It was involved in an accident involving a low bridge and as a result was converted to an open-top bus for the south part of Greater Manchester and remained with the GM Buses fleet. It's now preserved with the SELNEC Preservation Society.

Sister bus WBN955L based in Bolton was the open topper for the North part of Greater Manchester.

Alongside it is HDB116V. Northern Counties-bodied Leyland Fleetline, new in April 1980 to Greater Manchester Transport as 8116 and was later renumbered as 4116.

First based in Northenden when new, then (I think) Altrincham until its closure in 1991, after which it then moved to Princess Road until 1994. It then became part Birkenhead & District (GM Buses South) during the tit-for-ta bus wars with Merseyside when MTL's incursions into Greater Manchester became widespread.

Also owned by the SELNEC Preservation Society, it's preserved in the Birkenhead & District livery.

Both seen on display at the Museum of Transport on Saturday 22nd October during the Deregulation 25 event.
