Summary[edit]

Description

Gallirallus philippensis

English: A Buff-banded Rail on Fafa Island situated in the harbour of Nukuʻalofa, Tongatapu, Tonga. The island had been cleared of rats.
Banded Rails were fairly common in Tonga, but glances tend to be fairly fleeting. An exception was a resort on an island in the harbour of Nuku 'Alofa, where they had cleared the rats and they wandered around tame as anything (not unlike Heron Island in Australia).
