Summary[edit]

Description
English: Garrison Park, Williamsville, New York, as seen from Garrison Road near its southeast corner, October 2020. One of four parks owned and operated by the village, containing amenities such as basketball courts, a gazebo, a playground, and a wading pool. Though centrally located within the village, the land was undeveloped until the 20th century, having previously been a part of the 64-acre estate of Margaret Evans, a member of one of the village's founding families. However, War of 1812 records indicate that the park may have been (and certainly was near) the site of the 1812-13 winter encampment of General Alexander Smyth's forces during the Niagara Frontier Campaign, which later in the war served as a military hospital for the treatment of sick and wounded soldiers stationed at Fort Niagara in Lewiston. The park was established in 1895.
