English: [Sliding-mesh] speed change gearbox with four forward and one reverse ratios: M, Input or mainshaft from engine; C, Output shaft [ie cardan shaft or prop shaft to e.g. differential axle]; Speed ratio gears I, II, III, IV, which are brought into mesh with 1, 2, 3, 4 by [lateral] shifting; R, reverse gear, meshing with both IV and 4.
