DescriptionGibson Flying V (land of the giants version), Carnegie Science Center, Pittsburgh.jpg |
This is a the world's largest playable electric guitar. It is 43.5 feet long, 16 feet wide and weighs 2,255 pounds, as much as a small car. It was, I believe, built by high school students in a town in Texas, but I've not found much more info on that part yet. "Playable" is a stretch... the strings are made of aircraft cable, but if you twang one it plays through a nice distorted amplifier. Maybe if you had three people you could play the beginning to Smoke on the Water ::) The redheads are not mine, but they provide a good sense of scale. Refernces
