Summary[edit]

Description
English: Glenarm River and St Patrick's Church Glenarm River from the footbridge near St Patrick's Church of Ireland. The church was built in 1769 on the site of a former Franciscan friary. Glenarm (glen of the army) takes it name from the glen in which it lies, the southernmost of the nine glens of Antrim. The Barbican Gate, the imposing entrance to Glenarm Castle which dates from 1750, is at the heart of the village. Glenarm claims to be the oldest town in Ulster having been granted a charter in the 12th century.
