[Meed journal: "Summer work on Skookum Hill, Bonanza Creek. Pay-dirt is panned for testing. It is then placed in the tray of the head of the rocker which is operated by the left hand. The tin dipper in the right hand is used to constantly supply water to the mixture. Slats of wood serve as riffles lower down to catch the course gold and near the outlet is a tin sheet smeared with quick silver which attracts and holds the very fine gold."].
