Als die Gänsemagd im Felde ihr Haar kämmte und ein Verschen sagte, flog dem Hüterbübchen der Hut fort. Das geschah jeden Tag. Da erzählte es der Bub dem alten König und klagte, er wolle nicht mehr Gänse hüten. Nun ging der alte König nach aufs Feld. Als er am Pferdekopf vorüberkam, hörte er die mahnenden Worte und draußen beobachtete er, wie dem Gänsebuben der Hut fortgenommen wurde. = As the goose girl combed her hair in the field and spoke an enchanted verse, the wind blew the goose boy's hat far away. That happened every day. Then the boy told the old king and complained that he no longer wanted to look after the geese. Now the old king went to the field himself. As he passed the horse's head, he heard the admonishing words, and outside he watched the goose boy's hat being blown away.
