Description
English: NASA Astronaut Gordon Cooper leaves the Hangar S altitude chamber following a five-hour training session in January 1963. The altitude chamber allows engineers and technicians to ensure the capsule will not leak in space, and helps verify that the environmental control system and with other equipment all work as designed. Cooper is preparing for the planned 22-orbit mission of Mercury-Atlas 9 scheduled for later in 1963.
