Summary[edit]

Description
English: Gorley Common, New Forest. Gorley Common is on the plateau of Gorley Hill. This is artificial flatness - the common was quarried for its gravel in the 1950s and 60s and has only returned to open grazing land since its purchase by Hampshire County Council in the mid-1990s. The two fenced regions have a sign on them saying 'Temporary Grazing Enclosure' and unsurprisingly the grass (and red Rumex Acetosa - see 178206) has grown taller within the enclosed areas.
