Summary[edit]

Description
English: Grave stele. Pentelic marble. Found in Athens. The monument is in the form of a naiskos with pilasters, an epistyle and a tiled roof. The names of the figures depicted are engraved on the epistyle: Kephisokritos son of Glaukon of the deme of Kydathenaion and Stratyllis daughter of Kephisokritos. The bearded, aged Kephisokritos is shown sitting in a chair wearing a himation and holding his staff. He shakes hands with his daughter Stratyllis. The young girl wears a sleeved chiton, a peplos girt at the waist and a himation that coves her back. Some well-known statue of Zeus or Asclepius will have served as the model for Kephisokritos.
