Description Engraving published by Charles Bance and Joubert Fils, Paris, after Lavater. Broadside consisting of 24 profiles illustrating the continuous transformation of a head of a frog into that of the Apollo Belvedere. The idea is that the facial angle expresses the level of civilization of a living creature, from the horizontal angle of the frog's head to the vertical angle of the ideal human [1].
