Summary[edit]

Description
English: This is a broad view of the Granite Boat Chute near Granite, Colorado on the Arkansas River in Chaffee County. Completed in 2020, the boat chute structure has several functions. On the left is a fish ladder, allowing fish to travel upstream here. The middle channel is a spillway where excess water flows. The right channel is for recreational watercraft. A small white sign at the top directs boaters to the correct channel. Prior to the construction of the chute, a diversion dam blocked passage for boats and fish, requiring boaters to portage their craft around the dam. The river is no longer blocked by the former dam.
