| Description |
English: Built in 1937-1939, this Classical Revival-style building was designed by E. C. and G. T. Landberg to replace the previous Grant County Courthouse, which had been built in 1852 and had become inadequate for the needs of the county government. The building was partially funded with a Public Works Administration (PWA) grant, which was part of a New Deal government program. The building features a cream brick exterior, limestone trim, a two-story front portico with a pediment and corinthian columns, four-over-four and nine-over-nine double-hung windows, a slender tower on the roof with clock faces on the lower rectangular portion, an open octagonal belfry with a tall finial and copper dome, a low-slope roof enclosed by a parapet, and a two-story side wing. |
