Summary[edit]

Description
English: Grave relief. Pentelic marble. Found in the district of Goudi, Athens. A woman sitting on a stool and facing right holds in both hands the hand of another woman, standing in front of her. Between them stands a mature man and a young maidservant at the left. The figures are carved obliquely, turned three quarters to the background of the relief. This enabled the fine artist to work the head of the seated woman in the round, giving to her divine beauty and radiance. About 340 B.C. Accession number: 832. National Archaeological Museum of Athens. Athens, Greece. Text: Museum inscription.
