Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Grave slab at Kinkell Church This stone slab (reverse side) originally commemorated Gilbert de Greenlaw, who was killed at the Battle of Harlaw in 1411. Later it was reduced in size, carved and relaid reverso, to commemorate the passing of the local laird John Forbes (1592) of nearby Ardmurdo. See http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue/adsdata/PSAS_2002/pdf/vol_080/80_043_061.pdf

The Greek inscription is a biblical text, Pilippians, i,21.

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain"
