Summary
[edit]DescriptionGreat Malvern railway station (geograph 2493962).jpg |
English: Great Malvern railway station The Worcester and Hereford Railway Act was passed in 1853. The line from Worcester to Malvern opened on 25th May 1860 with the line continuing beneath the Malvern Hills to Hereford on the 17th September 1861. Lady Emily Foley was lady of the manor and controlled much of the building of Malvern during the boom, "Water Cure" years of the mid-19th century. She insisted that the station here be grander than all other stations outside the main terminus stations. The station was designed by local architect Edmund Wallace Elmslie and was completed in 1862. |
