English: Greeks (Rum) from Kydonies (Ayvalik) in the Turkish Labour Battalions, photographed in Smyrna probably just before their release to Greece. The back side has the names of 19 POWs, including that of the Greek author Elias Venezis (No. 15, second from right in the front row). [For the names of other POWs, see legend in Greek.]
Ελληνικά: Έλληνες (Ρωμιοί) από τις Κυδωνίες (Αϊβαλί) στα τουρκικά Τάγματα Εργασίας, φωτογραφημένοι στη Σμύρνη πιθανότατα λίγο πριν την απελευθέρωσή τους στην Ελλάδα. Η πίσω πλευρά έχει τα ονόματα 19 αιχμαλώτων, συμπεριλαμβανομένου του Έλληνα συγγραφέα Ηλία Βενέζη (Νο. 15, δεύτερος από δεξιά στην πρώτη σειρά).
