Description
English: A U.S. Navy Grumman E-1B Tracer of Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 121 (VAW-121) Det. 9 "Griffins" is catapulted from the aircraft carrier USS Essex (CVS-9) in the Atlantic Ocean, in November 1967. Five Grumman S-2E Trackers of Anti-Submarine Squadron 34 (VS-34) "Proud Tigers" and VS-39 "Hoot Owls" are parked on the flight deck. All squadrons were assigned to Carrier Anti-Submarine Air Group 60 (CVSG-60) aboard the Essex.
