Summary[edit]

Description
English: H000128

Bone fish hook. Fish and marine animals (including whales, whose capture is now prohibited) have traditionally been an important source of food in Tonga.

This hook was possibly collected in Tonga during Captain Cook's second or third voyage to the Pacific. It was part of the Cook Collection exhibited at the Colonial and Indian exhibition in London in1886. The hook was subsequently acquired by the New South Wales Government and donated to the Museum in 1895.
