Title
Pennsylvania Railroad- 30th Street Station. Philadelphia, Philadelphia Co., PA. Sec. 1101, MP 88.10. - Northeast Railroad Corridor, Amtrak route between Delaware-Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania-New Jersey state lines, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, PA
Description
English: U. S. Postal Service Building, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This mail distribution center was erected in 1930 using a style similar to 30th Street Station behind. Both were part of the “Philadelphia Improvements”, an urban-renewal project undertaken by the city and the Pennsylvania Railroad during the late 1920s. The building covers almost the whole southern track field.
The roadway right next to the river is one of the ramps leading up from the Schuylkill Expressway to the street level.
