Description

HMS Illustrious approaches Glen Mallan. Illustrious was in Glen Mallan to conduct a routine visit with the primary purpose to ammunition the ship. The secondary purpose was to provide the Ship's Company an opportunity to conduct Adventurous Training (AT).

Glen Mallan Jetty is situated on Loch Long, seven miles from Faslane Naval Base in Scotland.

This photograph was awarded a Highly Commended in the Best Maritime Image Award in the Royal Navy's Peregrine Trophy 2013. Awarded for the best photograph depicting Royal Navy or Royal Marines equipment, including ships, submarines, aircraft, weapons and equipment large & small.
