Summary
[edit]DescriptionHRP-1 pickup Bongo Is NAN6-49.jpg | A U.S. Navy Piasecki HRP-1 picking up a pilot in 1949. The caption explains this as the rescue of a "Lt. Wink van Ripple" from a "Bongobongo" island, after the pilot had spent four years with natives. Interestingly he still wears his flight suit, and neither a Lt. van Ripple nor a Bongobongo island could be identified. There is just a Bongo Island in the Philippines (off the eastern coast of Cebu). |
