| Description |
English: Heathland northwest of Starpole Pond, New Forest Looking across a damp heathland valley between Gurnetfields Furzebrake and the Beaulieu River. The gorse in the foreground is on the edge of the lawn called Gurnetfields Furzebrake - "furze" being a dialect word meaning gorse. A "furzebrake" is a belt of gorse bushes. Gurnetfields (pronounced "Gurneyfeels") is the name given to the wooded area to the south, on the northern edge of the Beaulieu Estate (north of Shepton Water and west of North Lane). |
