Title
Helix, v.2, no.5, Nov. 16, 1967
Description

Cover: Napoleon postcards and cartoons (metro-page format)

This is actually page 12 of the paper, because pages 8-9 are a center spread represented as a single JPEG. This page is at 90° to the usual orientation for a tabloid. Also, the design really only makes sense in conjunction with the adjoining page File:Helix, v.2, no.5, Nov. 16, 1967 - DPLA - 3019f071e6dc188b4228a47127ddb96f (page 12).jpg

The pages include three ads; all but the second span both pages:

  • Country Joe and the Fish appearing at Eagles Auditorium Fri. Nov 17 and Sat. Nov 18 with United Empire Loyalists (Friday) and Fat Jack (Saturday). Lights by Retina Circus.
  • Head shop "Underground Unlimited", 4757 Roosevelt Way NE, Seattle (University District)
  • Opening of a club called The San Francisco Sound in "the old Encore Ballroom" at 13th & Pike (1214 E Pike, roughly where Capitol Hill, First Hill, and the Central District come together); there is also an article. This ad is drawn by Walt Crowley. Opening weekend acts (Fri. Nov 17 and Sat. Nov 18): West Coast Natural Gas and Tripsichord Music Box, with lights by Five Pound Smile. The club lasted about a year. The building is still there (as a self-storage facility) as of 2024.
